Here's my personal rundown on the reverbs: Whether that's worth the price of admission will be debated for eternity, and it's a personal choice. That's where UAD DSP can always be helpful. The only advantage is if you have a huge mix going and decide you need to punch in a few more corrections and then your computer starts have issues. Then use your coupon to buy a cheaper one-off like the Studio D chorus, an amp sim (the B15N is great) or something like that before the sale runs out.įirst, not with reverb, but you asked: The Ampeg amp sims are the same native as they are UAD. So if you think that fits into your scenario, it is a worthy fourth option for sure. That's what the other verb plugins do so well though. Doesn't really do it for me on lead vocals though. A panned group of a background vocals bus set in an "ensemble space". Put that "amp in the room" sound back into a close-miced guitar amp.
put them on your drum bus and it opens them WAY up. Like live drums recorded in a small room that sound kinda flat. You would still want to add some verb on top of that. In my mind, it's the perfect plugin for someone who records in a small treated space to add "professional recording studio room sound" to your tracks. Ocean Way, while an amazing plugin that I looooveee, to call it a "reverb" is not exactly right I don't think. With those you will likely not need to purchase another reverb, ever. With that in mind, as far as reverbs go.ĮMT140 plate (I like it a lot better than Abbey Road or anything I've demoed from Valhalla) I like to focus on the "extras" that UAD does better than anyone else. Console 1 all the way so EQs, channel strips/preamps and compressors are not where I focus my UAD power at all. What is your recommendation? The music style is guitar-pop, acoustic and light electronics.
Still, in all scenarios, I'm not going to have proper time until the sales run out and I'm not familiar with the other reverb-plugins UAD have. Which leads me to the actual question What is the reverbs that's most unique to UAD and not found as good or better in native elsewhere? I tried the Capital Chambers demo, which was fantastic, and I'm soon going to demo the Lexicon 480L and the Ocean Way Studios. I think I'm going to get the 1084 to use with the Unison preamp while tracking + giving some Neve-mojo on top of the Console 1's SSL channel strip. I do have Soundtoys Echoboy, so not sure delays are needed. In the reverb department, however, I got nothing beside the Logic stock reverbs. I'm however complete sold into the Softube Console 1 workflow, so (for now) I'm not looking into adding more EQ and Comp to my arsenal. I'm back into doing some serious "home-producing" after ten years and quickly jumped on an Arrow, which shortly after was upgraded to a Twin X Quad because of a good deal. I need some advice with the 3+1 deals UA is currently running.
