Not related to the USB cable or connection - just the communication via USB cable between the phone and pc.Ģ) I tested last night with an Android phone and it has the same problem.ģ) It doesn't appear to be related to any of the windows apps.
Cant open windows software#
Likely somewhere inside the USB software in Windows. To condense down some of the things we've concluded in the most recent call with Microsoft:ġ) It appears to be a USB communication problem between the phone and the PC. I've spent multiple hours on the phone with Apple support and now with Tier 3 level support from Microsoft. The scenario described by otakusan555 is very similar to what I've been seeing. But if nothing else, this might provide some clues as to what could be happening. I'm not sure if there is a way to decrypt the iPhone temporaraly to test this theory. What this is leading me to believe is that the phone is encrypting the photos.
Cant open windows windows 10#
None of these photos are the *.heic files, which on Windows 10 is a headache for another time. Right now he is going to email the photos to himself, but I suspect this will work.Ĥ) The photos are all *.jpg files. However when he disconnects the phone from the computer, then they stop working.ģ) He is able to email the photos to others and then have them email the photos back to him. We would perfer not to use iTunes or iCloud since these photos are confidential and all we need is to sync photos.Ģ) The photos seem to work fine the first time he transfers data. Rather he is transfering them directly using Windows Explorer. Not sure if this is what your seeing, but here's where we are at so far.ġ) He is not using iCloud or iTunes. The User is reporting that when he transfers the files from his iPhone (iOS 14.7) currently to his Windows 10 laptop the file becomes corrupt and is unable to open. I've been working with one of our users on a similar issue. Maybe it's too early for them to have seen the problem - but it's hard to believe that. Apple searched for those errors in their database and found nothing. It's related to a windows process called Shell Infrastructure Host. It's then stuck in a loop and will keep kicking out that error even after the phone is unplugged.

When I unplug the phone it kicks out an error saying the device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected. I don't use iCloud and don't plan to because I have a lot of storage available locally and with other providers. They always first ask if it works in iCloud. With the import process I have to sort through everything twice - once on the phone and once on the PC. I like to view the pictures on the computer, keep what I want on the phone, delete off the phone what I don't want, and copy specific pictures to folders on my pc. I can import the pictures using the photos app - but it's cumbersome to sort through the pictures that way. I've so far found nothing online about the issue. They all pointed the finger back at Microsoft. I spent several hours on the phone with Apple support with three different agents.
